Becoming Who You Needed (Weekly Recovery Reflection)
Healing is not about fixing the past, but embodying the love we once lacked.
Quote:
"Be the person you needed when you were younger."

My Thoughts:
As we move through early June, emotions may surface around identity, belonging, and the roles our caregivers played—or didn’t play. For many of us in recovery, this time can feel tender. Whether we’re reflecting on our fathers, chosen family, or personal identity, we might notice an ache for something we didn’t receive. That ache isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s an invitation. It invites us to give ourselves now what we needed then.
In recovery, we begin the sacred task of reparenting ourselves—not just through affirmations, but through presence, boundaries, rest, and truth. We grow into the kind of person our younger self dreamed of—kind, safe, wise, and full of quiet strength. Becoming that person is not only healing for us but also for the lineage we carry forward.
Action for the Week:
Set aside 15 quiet minutes this week to write a letter to your younger self—any age that feels right. Begin with, “I see you…” and let your heart guide the rest. As you write, notice what qualities you now embody that your younger self longed for. Let this be a week of embodying that love—for yourself and others who need it.
