Living the Legacy (Weekly Recovery Reflection)
In recovery, we become the ancestors our future selves can thank.
Quote:
“We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.” - Wendell Berry
My Thoughts:
Father’s Day isn’t only about celebrating dads — it’s also about legacy. Whether we’re parents or not, we are all creating a lineage through the choices we make, the healing we commit to, and the energy we pass on. In recovery, every time we break a cycle — be it addiction, codependency, or silence — we’re planting seeds for a future we may never see but that will deeply matter.
This week is a powerful moment to zoom out. To reflect on the energetic inheritance we’re leaving behind. Maybe we didn’t get the role models we needed. Maybe we’ve made mistakes we wish we could undo. Still, every sober breath, every boundary held with love, every time we choose peace over chaos — it all becomes part of the spiritual DNA we pass forward. We are building something sacred.
Action for the Week:
Write a short letter to your future self — or to a future loved one — explaining what you are choosing to pass down through your healing journey. This isn’t about perfection. It’s about intention. What energy do you want to be known for? What legacy are you living right now? Reflect, write, and know that it matters more than you realize.
